Thread Necromancy
Necromancy [Evil]

Level: Brd 5, Blk 4, Clr/Mys 5, Sor/Wiz 5
Components: V, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: 1 thread
Duration: Concentration + 1 hour/level; see text
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

By intently focusing your energies and attention on the flashing crystalline rectangle and quickly moving your fingers, pressing keys while manipulating a mouse, you infuse a thread with fell necrotic energies, raising it from the veil of death.

By the use of this spell, you can infuse a single dead thread and cause it to appear hale and interesting to those that view it. The caster can attempt to raise more than one thread, but each casting of the thread necromancy spell has an increased chance of drawing the attention of the dread Kryo.

The Kryo is an immensely powerful servant of Draginol who tirelessly works to ensure progress, continuity and order over the forums of the Dread Lords. If confronted by the Kryo the caster may attempt a Bluff or Diplomacy Cloaking spell, but chances of success are very slim. Unless the attention of the Kryo has been successfully Bluffed or Cloaked, the Kryo immediately intervenes and halts the necrotic magic’s that animate the thread.

------------------------------------------------------------------

But seriously folks, shouldn't there be some policy about thread necromancy? It's certainly nice to be able to go through ancient posts searching for lost gems of wisdom, but at some point shouldn't replies to old threads be locked out.

At the risk of being flammed to death, take a look at the recent rash of carrier and planetary bombardment threads as an example. One was dead for 5 months before being dug up and responded to as if had been posted the day before.

You sir, win the internet

I have started to check the date on 1st post before I read any further.

I advise everyone to do the same.

If no one replies the necromancer soon withers away taking his deceased threads away with him.

*Kryo casts Infinite Winter on all enemies*
*Undead Thread has been frozen*
*Necromancer has been slain!*
*0 XP gained, Necromancer's level was too low*

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'll have to think about it. Should have something for you by January.

Let's see, September to January would be only four months.   Probably Feburary might be better.

Er. Thanks, I think.

All,

LMAO

Mumblefratz,

I think the level of the spell should be where you have placed it, but since it is cast most often by those of significantly less than 10th level of experience, it really is a 1st level spell and available on scrolls for the non-spellcaster characters.

Den,

Great! - although I suggest the text should read "Resurrect target thread which has lain fallow for 3 or more months." The rest of the text fits and the Creature Type is particularly appropriate. Unfortunately the casting cost is real, too (although the tap rqmnt is not)- should be X black where X is number of weeks over 12.

perhaps a new section that redirects resurrected threads to a new section,.....

called. erm 'resurrected threads'

thus if you really wanna wade thru old threads that have been recently replied too...

you can go there.

Den of Earth, this "card" is hilarious.
*saved for later use*

Yes the older threads are getting a bit annoying but there will always be those idiots who instead of starting new discussions will add to the old useless ones.

It'd be like that zombie ranch from the end of the Australian zombie movie 'Undead'. It was utterly silly.
